Face it, every (death) metalhead has heard of the band Malevolent Creation, or even seen them live. I have none of their albums, but I have been confronted with them live a couple of times and I always enjoyed what I saw. It�s a band that had, just like Napalm Death, many line-up changes, and a legendary status. This year they released their tenth full length; Doomsday X.

 

The verdict for this album is quite simple probably. If you�re into death metal you probably like this band anyway. It�s fast, it�s brutal, it�s technical, and it grooves. What more do you want, well except for melody then, but that�s gay anyway haha! Malevolent Creation surely isn�t reinventing the wheel on Doomsday X, not even their own wheel of death/thrash, but one can�t say it�s a bad album at all. There are no irritating or boring moments to be found here, which makes this record a great listen.

 

Well for fun I�ll add some facts about this record, which I doubt have any impact on your decision whether or not you�re going to buy this album. There�s a guitar solo from Mick Thompson from Slipknot (that�s number seven, for all you true death metal heads out there that didn�t know yet) on the track �Deliver My Enemy�, on drums there is long time drummer Dave Culross who already left again, and on vocals we have long time singer Brett Hoffmann. Convinced?

 

So nothing new from these legends, but nothing disappointing either. If you like to rock out to some groovy and blasting death metal tunes, be sure to pick this up asap.
